Take the work out of saving when you shop Labor Day sales at your favorite stores. Labor Day is Monday, September 6, but you’ll find huge discounts throughout September. Expect to find the biggest markdowns during Labor Day weekend and the following week.

During Labor Day sales in 2020, prices started dropping two weeks before the holiday. Shoppers saved 70%, 80%, and even up to 90% on items at major retailers. If you’re looking for deals on home goods, electronics, apparel, and more this is your time to save. Make your holiday weekend one to remember by saving on items for you, your family, and your home.

Deals to turn your house into a home

Make your home feel brand new for less money with Labor Day deals. With discounts from stores like Sears, Target, Walmart, The Home Depot, and IKEA, you can transform your home from the inside out.

Last year Target featured some of the best deals including 30% off all home items and an additional 15% off all rugs, furniture, and bedding.

Labor Day is also a great time to look for a new mattress. Sears offers discounts of up to 60% or more on top mattress brands like Serta, Stearns, & Foster, and Sealy. You could even score a free gift by shopping with Sears. Last year customers got a free box-spring mattress with any order of a Beautyrest Platinum or Serta iComfort mattress.

Electronic discounts you can look forward to

Labor Day sales also feature amazing deals on electronics and technology essentials. Stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Sears offer great deals on computers, phones and appliances.

Best Buy gave customers up to 30% off home appliances like refrigerators or washer and dryer sets. Last year, Sears offered customers up to 40% off appliances, plus an additional 10% off $399+ items.

Walmart also featured incredible markdowns on laptops, home electronics, computers, and more.

In the market for a new television? Make the most of this incredible sale and get a new television that makes your jaw drop. Last year Walmart sold the Samsung 4K Smart LED HDTV for only $548. They also had the Sceptre 4K Ultra LED HDTV—originally priced at $699—for just $430.

Markdowns that add more color to your closet

Get great savings when you change your wardrobe with the season. Popular stores like Macy's, Kohls, Nike, and JCPenney have all the best deals on the latest fall styles.

REI had the best deals on outdoor and athletic clothing last year. They offered 40% off some of the best-selling outdoor apparel and shoes. Even top brands like Arc’teryx, Patagonia, The North Face, and Mountain Hardware were discounted.

If you’re looking for new boots or athletic shoes, this is also the perfect time for that. Last year, Macy’s offered some of the best discounts on shoes. Shoppers got 25% off select adidas shoes, and 30% off new shoe arrivals. Nike gave shoppers a nice surprise with an extra 25% off items in the Clearance section.

If the items that you need aren’t on sale, you might find a promotion to save on your entire purchase. For example, last year JCPenney gave shoppers an additional 25% off all purchases of $100 or more. Shoppers could even use this discount on items that were already marked down or on sale.

Macy’s and Kohl’s gave shoppers an additional 20% off their purchases with a coupon code. Macy’s also offered free shipping on all online orders of $49 or more so shoppers could save even more.
