6 Tips to Save When You Need New Tires

Buy more than one

You can often find a better deal for the cost per tire if you buy two or four at a time – and since tires normally wear out in pairs, it’s always a good idea to replace at least two at a time.

Check the big box stores

This one may seem obvious, but don’t forget you can get new tires from places like Costco, Sam’s Club, and Walmart. They’re able to offer very competitive prices, and often run promotional sales specifically on tires – and if you happen to find a good sale, chances are we did too, so be sure to check back for new tire coupons listed here.

Use rebates

Check the rebates page of the retailer where you purchase and manufacturer of the tire. You’ll be surprised to find quite a few standing and promotional rebates that will get you money back after your purchase.

Time it right

If you need new tires ASAP, then you’re at the mercy of the retailer. But if you’re shopping around because you know you’ll need new tires soon, there are better times to look. Specifically, April and October happen to be particularly good times to buy new tires – the expectation is that consumers are gearing up for summer trips or winter driving, so there are always sales during these two months.

Only buy what you need

If you don’t plan on going off-roading or racing any time soon (or ever), then opt for a decent set of average tires. There’s no need to pay for bells and whistles you won’t get any use out of.

Buy used (if you must)

There is always the option of getting a very decent set of used tires for a fraction of the price of new – but you’re saving in the short-term, so keep in mind that you will have to replace them sooner.
