Even without Columbus Day sales, October is a prime month to find markdowns on appliances. That’s when manufacturers unveil their new models, which gives retailers major motivation to move last year’s inventory. And, they know people are hustling to get ready for the upcoming holiday season.
What does this mean for those of us looking to save on a new refrigerator, dishwasher, range or washing machine? It’s good news because we have more time to find exactly what we want and still get a good price. In that money-saving spirit, we’ve got a lineup of all the best deals on appliances. Keep reading to see how you can save!
1. Get Cooking
Now is the perfect time to get your house in order before the holidays. There’s nothing worse than having the oven die in the middle of cooking your Thanksgiving turkey. Trust us, we know from experience – it was very, very bad.
From a shiny new range to a nice, toasty wall oven, you’ll find just what you want at palatable prices. During its Prep for the Holidays sale, Best Buy has discounts of up to $700 on select LG ranges. You can also save up to $200 on LG wall oven and cooktop packages.
My Best Buy members also receive special perks. For a limited time, members will get a $100 gift card when they purchase a GE kitchen appliance package with a range and either a microwave or range hood.
If you’re really looking to stuff yourself with savings, check out appliance packages for your entire kitchen. You can save as much as $1,200 on KitchenAid appliance packages, which include your choice of six appliances like warming drawers, ice makers and under-counter refrigerators. Plus, you’ll get free delivery on all appliance purchases over $399, which is a $69 value.
2. Chill Out
With the holidays come refrigerators packed full of food. You definitely don’t want all that goodness to go to waste, so make sure your fridge is up to the challenge.
Whether you’re looking for a high-end French door model or a basic version to have as an overflow fridge, Lowe’s has a ton of great options to choose from. You can get a 24-inch stainless-steel French door Samsung with a dual ice maker for $750 off. To make sure you have all the extra space, you can also snag a compact Whirlpool fridge – perfect for a garage or basement – for under $540.
And, depending on availability, you can pick up your fridge for free in the store in just a couple of days. If you have a little time to spare, many also qualify for free delivery. Plus, for a $30 fee, Lowe’s will remove and haul away your old one. That seems like money well-spent if it saves time, aggravation and strained muscles!
3. Get Clean
After all the visitors leave, you’ll still be left with all the dishes. And, if you’re like us, your dishwasher has had one heck of a workout over this past year. It’s probably time to look for a new one to avoid the inconvenient timing of its inevitable death.
AJ Madison is one retailer that still has a Columbus Day sale. It has reduced prices on thousands of appliances, including specials on hundreds of dishwashers. During this sale weekend, you can save 30% on a Frigidaire Gallery Series stainless steel built-in dishwasher. If you don’t need fancy sanitizing cycles, quick-dry capabilities or adjustable racks, you can get a basic GE workhorse starting as low as $389.
Make sure you check to see which dishwashers are eligible for additional rebates. For a limited time, Samsung, LG, Bosch and Frigidaire are all offering a $50 rebate on the purchase of two kitchen appliances.
Shop early to make sure you get the best selection and choice of delivery dates. AJ Madison also offers free standard delivery nearly anywhere in the country.
4. Wash Up

The Home Depot also offers free in-store pickup and free delivery. In addition, they’ll haul away your old set for just $25 and will install the new ones, as long as you have the required parts. Plus, if you find the same items advertised for a lower price, they’ll match it.
